We work to build strong relationships with the communities near our operations and ensure the safety of our workforce

Source Energy is founded on a commitment to people and environmental sustainability. Our safety culture is driven by a pursuit to achieve safety excellence and we are uncompromising stewards of the environment. We work to engage and form strong relationships with local communities surrounding our operations.

Environment

We are proud to be part of Canada’s oil and gas industry – an industry which has some of the highest environmental and safety standards of any other oil and gas producing country. We strive to exceed environmental and safety expectations throughout every stage of our operations.

Land Reclamation

Land reclamation is a key activity Source Energy completes during the mining process. Once a section of our mine has been completed the area is backfilled and seeded to return the land back to a thriving vegetative state.  In 2018, Source Energy reclaimed 27.3 acres of land and is projected to reclaim 66 acres of land in 2019.

Water Recycling

We have engineered our processing facilities with environmental sustainability in mind by incorporating a closed-loop water system that recycles production water. Our closed-loop water systems enable our wash plants to operate without discharging processed water into dry runs, wetlands or creeks. This allows us to reuse the water in our production processes, significantly minimizing the need for groundwater withdrawals. This past year, Source Energy recycled 87.7 million gallons of water back into production and continues to monitor and improve its water recycling processes.

Responsible Care Company

Source Energy is proud to be recognized as a Responsible Care Company by the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada. The Responsible Care Company designation reaffirms our commitment to the safe storage and transloading of chemical products.

Health and Safety

At Source Energy, we believe safe work environments are the result of a deliberate and intentional focus on a safety culture that drives successful behaviours across all levels of the organization.

Safety Excellence

Our Safety Vision Statement, “The relentless pursuit of safety excellence, driven by all levels of the organization,” is the basis for three strategic pillars that drive the HSE culture: Leadership, Learning, and Engagement. The safety culture at Source Energy ensures all employees keep our People First core value top of mind.

Creating Safe Working Habits

Source Energy has developed programs to encourage safe working habits through peer-to-peer behavioural observations and proactive hazard identification. Our Body ImpACT program provides our employees with tools to protect themselves and their co-workers from harm, consisting of two components: Mind and Matter, and Hands and Feet.

The Hands and Feet course provides employees with proper techniques for stepping, handling and lifting.

The Minds and Matter program helps identify individual personal safety weaknesses, along with guidance on how to properly communicate safety concerns to others.

Community Engagement
We believe in supporting and helping shape the communities where we live, work and play

By recognizing the importance of forming strong relationships with the people within the communities near our operations, we strive to uphold our founding People First corporate value across our organization. Whether it’s giving back through economic opportunities or supporting local causes and organizations, we continually look to listen, learn and engage – addressing concerns, ensuring safe operations, and becoming active participants.

Community Sponsorships and Donations

As active members of our communities, we support initiatives that align with our corporate values, that support the charitable efforts of our employees, and are located near our operations.

Should you be interested in partnering with Source Energy, we ask you to complete the Donation Request Form and email it to community@sourceenergyservices.com to receive funding. Organizations that are successful in receiving sponsorship or funding may be asked to submit a report, offer employee volunteer opportunities, and supply Source Energy with pictures or other media materials that demonstrate our impact.
